The Football Boot Awards had their inaugural year in 2007 and quickly established itself as the leading festival in the football boot industry. Originally consisting of five categories including ‘Most Comfortable’ and ‘Football Brand of the Year’ the Footy Boots awards were unlike anything that had preceded them. Whilst many doubted that such a niche topic warranted a genuine set of awards, the Footy-Boots.com audience – and readers of print partner Zoo Magazine – helped make the 2007 awards a real breakout success.

2008 saw the Awards expand at an unprecedented rate; as well as continuing partnership with Zoo magazine, the awards were lent further weight from Kitbag.com, Europe’s largest sporting good supplier and WorldSoccerShop the US leader.

Voters once again turned out in their droves, registering tens of thousands of individual voters nominating their favourites in a number of new categories expanded to include ‘Best Football Shirt’ and for the first time a ‘Panel’s Choice’ award; a team of experts from around the industry, including BBC Journalists, Ex-Players and former Boot Designers.

As 2007 and 2008 saw the rise of smaller boot companies, the 2009 Awards were a perfect showcase for new brands who had spent the last 12 months honing their craft. Two new brands picked up awards in the two newest categories – Safest Football Boot & Most Outrageous design.

The Football Boots Awards have developed a reputation among the biggest sports companies in the world – not just as an unmitigated success – but as a level playing field between Fortune 500 companies and outrageous upstarts, where good design is the only thing that matters to the ultimate target audience.

2010 sees the awards enter their 4th year, and promises to be the finest yet. A revamped interface promises to make voting this year even easier than before; coupled with extended voting time, Footy-Boots.com expects to receive more votes than ever. A new print partner has been established in the wildly popular Football Punk magazine, whilst Kitbag.com and WorldSoccerShop.com are both lead donors again.

The most common kind of bet in the football wagering system is the spread wager, this is where the bookie will determine which team is the favorite and which is the underdog and the number of points a team has to win or lose by so that the gambler can obtain a payout.

While you are looking at the wagering line, you will see one team with a minus sign beside the number and that signifies that they are the favorite. So let’s say that the Jets from New York are favorites by 6.5 beside their name, that would indicate that they are the favorite and that the opposition would need to lose by 7 or more points so that those who places a wager on the Jets could collect their winnings. In another instance, if New York wins by only 6 points then the gamblers going against the Jets would win their bets. So what this essentially means is that you could still end up losing your wager against the spread even if you choose the team that wins the game.

Of course there are plenty of different forms of bets that you can in the football wagering system which contain futures, squares and over/under totals, but wagering with the point spread is the most popular and the one that you will be using most frequently.

Football is probably the most popular sport in America today because Americans enjoy big hits and long passes. What does a football player need to work on though? It is a hard thing to say because every single position needs to work on something different. Below are just a couple of the positions in football and some weight training for football exercises that each should do:

Quarterback

One thing that the quarterback does not necessarily have to be is big. If you are a quarterback you really do not have to go and hit the weight room and try to put on a ton of muscle but I would recommend you do.

Quarterbacks mainly have to worry about their arm strength, working on biceps, triceps, and shoulders mainly, and their quickness. A quick quarterback is able to scramble out of the pocket and get better reads without being hit.

Offensive/Defensive Line

Although offensive and defensive line are really two way different things they do require very similar things. Offensive and defensive linemen need to be big and strong to be able to hold their own against the opposition. The bigger and stronger the line the more they will be able to accomplish. Offensive linemen do not really have to be quick other then they need to be quick off the line. Defensive linemen have to be quick so that they are able to get to the quarterback, running back, etc. quickly.

So all linemen need to hit heavy on the weight room working mainly on their upper body strength and work some on their quickness.

Wide Receiver

Wide receivers need to be small and quick. A wide receiver has to be quick enough to get off the line and down the field as quickly as possible so that the quarterback can hit them before the linemen hit him. Jumping also helps wide receivers so that they are able to catch a more wide variety of passes.

If your a wide receiver you should work on building up your legs to be able to jump, work on quickness and speed drills to get fast, and do not worry to much about hitting up the weight room.

Those are just three of the many positions of football but you can see how almost every position requires something different out of the weight room.

Depending on the position you play you will have a different weight training for football exercise that you should do to improve your football game.

If you’re thinking that this ‘great’ football player sounds almost super-human, you’re not very far off the mark. Especially when you consider that he must be able to think and make quick decisions even while he’s performing all this magic on the field. But don’t dismay, if you have a goal to become a better football player, you can hone your athletic skill to be this diverse. Here are a few football training tips for a great, all-around on field performance.

Top 6 Football Training Tips: Football Training Tip #1

Your first football training tip is to head to the gym for some weight training sooner rather than later. If you already have some basic weight training under your belt for balance and stability, you can go ahead and move on to more intense training that is very specific to football. If you don’t, you’ll want to ease into it and start off with a few weeks of lighter training. Start with about three to four weeks of circuit training to strengthen your larger and smaller muscle groups. You can do this at home or in the gym with free weights or machines. Check your local weight room as it may already have a circuit set up and ready to go.

Top 6 Football Training Tips: Football Training Tip #2

Once you’ve completed your prep-training, you can move onto the second football training tip – more intense strength training to build muscle mass, strength and power. This football training tip focuses on targeting your larger muscles and start lifting some serious weight, about 65% of your maximum strength. Rest for several minutes between sets and you really only need to perform this training three or four times each week, so long as you’re working each major muscle group 1-2 times each week. After four weeks of more intense strength training, you’re ready to move into about four weeks of maximal strength training, in which you’ll be lifting almost 80%-100% of what you can physically lift for as many reps as you can. Don’t get discouraged if you can only do one rep per “set”. Again, rest for several minutes between and only follow this football training tip three or four times each week. There’s no need to overdo it here. Also, get into the habit of stretching after each workout. Stretching increases flexibility and can help achieve your speed goals. Most importantly, stretching can help you fend off an injury which is key to completing a great season.

Top 6 Football Training Tips: Football Training Tip #3
This football training tip is more about what not to do than what to do. One of the most common mistakes in training for football is overtraining. For this reason, follow the football training tip I just described for off-season training. During the season, this program would be overkill and likely lead to fatigue and decreased performance. It is, however, a great football training tip to build you up before the season starts. For your training during the season, tone it way down and do the minimum amount to maintain the progress you made during the off season.

Top 6 Football Training Tips: Football Training Tip #4

This football training tip is also a warning against overtraining when performing drills and endurance training. While endurance is very important in football (you don’t want to peter out half way through the first quarter), training as if for a marathon is not necessary when training for football. Interval training is a great way to achieve the kind of endurance that is ideal for the game of football but without inducing fatigue due to over training. When you think about it, football is played in bursts of intensity which are then followed by a pause. Interval training recreates the same kind of activity in that there are short bursts of intensity followed by recovery. How you perform during the bursts is the most crucial part of the training.

Top 6 Football Training Tips: Football Training Tip #5

Running and speed is an integral part of the football game being that the combination often means that making a touchdown is more likely. In terms of speed training, you must refer back the previous statements about the importance of not overtraining. For the sake of getting faster, many athletes run farther and harder, and then on game day they are worn out and can’t perform the way they’d like. Speed training is often pursued on the field. However, strength training done properly is a sure-fire way to gain ground in terms of speed. If you’ve already done serious weight training for gaining strength and power, your speed is already being influenced by the strength of the major muscles of your body. The chances are good that you are already moving over the ground with some substantial power. However, power combined with stride speed can generate a serious shift in speed.

Top 6 Football Training Tips: Football Training Tip #6

To improve stride speed, spend some time working your thigh flexor muscles during your weight training sessions. Find a resistance band and fix one end to a stationary object about ankle height from the ground. Fix the other end of the resistance band to your ankle. Standing with your feet about hip’s width apart, move your foot with the band attached about 12 inches off the ground in front of you while slightly bending the knee. Hold this position approximately 15 seconds and then return to the original position. Perform this exercise for one set on each leg a few times a week to see improved muscle speed as well as strength.

The key to great football training tips is to aim for well-roundedness of skill: solid with speed, power with agility, strength with endurance. For a football player, it’s not enough to be just fast or tough. He’s got to be fast and tough. However, striking the perfect balance is very achievable with proper training and taking care not to over train while in pursuit of your goals. What we’ve covered in this article is only the tip of the iceberg in terms of football training tips, but it is a step in the right direction toward becoming a more powerful and confident football player on the field.

Buying an authentic product is always recommended, even if you have to spend some extra cash, mostly because the replicas will need to be replaced in a short time. There are numerous places today where you can find authentic football jerseys, both online and onsite.

All football aficionados love buying apparel and shirts of their favourite league teams or national teams; whether you are purchasing a shirt as a gift or for yourself, you need to make sure that what you buy is a good value for money. Some of the shirts are expensive so it’s good to make the most for your money. Usually, people who have already bought replicas or fake shirts in the past have already found out that they might look great at the beginning, but they last too little. Men usually wear their favourite shirts often, so it’s quite common phenomenon to see the replicas wear out pretty fast. When buying a replica, you might think that you save money, but the truth is that the extra money for an authentic football shirt can pay you off soon enough.

Moreover, when buying an authentic item, you might end up owning a priceless, collector’s jersey. The real problem is that many people do not know what they are actually buying. Some people think that they are buying the real thing, while the jersey is a replica; there are many stores that will sell a fake football shirt as authentic, so you need to pay extra attention if you are not buying from a reputed or well known store. It is always a good idea to ask for recommendations and check for feedbacks. Especially if looking for something online, you should check if there are customer testimonials, feedbacks and reviews. If you are buying from a store at a physical location, always check if the quality is of professional grade. A replica football shirt might cost half money in comparison with an authentic one, but it can start dissolving after a few washings, losing its fit and form.

The difference in prices between an authentic football shirt and a replica is completely justified, as the authentic ones are sturdy and thick, with nice prints and colors. Replicas usually leave much to be expected when it comes to color and fabrics and the prints might start peeling off after a while. Unless you want and can replace the jersey often, there is no reason to avoid spending a few more dollars for an authentic one.

Wearing a replica often will definitely result in the demise of the jersey, so try to avoid bargains and consider the football shirt you are buying, to be an investment. When it comes to clothes, it’s always a good idea to invest some money in quality and style.

Football is proverbially seen as a man’s sport, an excuse to get together with the guys and drink until the final touchdown. While men do seem to be the most common demographic there are many women that do actually enjoy the game. This is not simply referring to women who tolerate the Super Bowl parties and serve up BBQ wings to the army of NFL fans walking through the door. These are actually female fans that keep track of the score, root for the home team and would kick the average guy’s butt when it comes to organizing a Super Bowl party.

The woman may warm up to sports in an effort to bond with her spouse or to make more friends. They may find exhilaration in showing the team spirit, having the common enemy and foe as their mate. When you think about it, football is a rather operatic sport; at once an expression of primal human emotion and a gladiatorial battle between giants. People live vicariously though these sports figures, and so both men and women find human aspiration thrilling and maybe even inspiring.

Then of course there are women who just love football for the same reason that men do-because it’s fun, because they enjoy making predictions and cheering on their favorite teams, and because they’ve watched every Super Bowl since 1975. Men are not the only ones who can become obsessive over sports. There are some female NFL experts out there who can feel the same rush of adrenaline that comes from watching Tom Brady throw a game-winning pass. Everybody loves a good competition and football is America’s most competitive game, with the most passionate of fans. It is at once, a patriotic event and a riveting thriller involving real life heroes and villains who grab that ball for dear life.

There’s only one thing more satisfying in life than watching the Super Bowl with the guys, a bucket of wings and a pint of your favorite beverage all to yourself-all that plus a girl by your side who never asks to change the channel.

Sport has been in existence for countless of years and has been an essential part of the lives of many people all over the world. There are plenty of sports which are gaining in popularity nowadays. One of the most renowned sports worldwide is football. Football equipment is an essential aspect in the life of a football player. It is very vital that you choose the football equipment that would best suit your standing in the game.

A football team is usually composed of eleven players. These players should have some training and personal equipment, as well as the necessary apparel, in order to perform well during each game. Such pieces of equipment are made up of various items, all of which are meant for football. These items include football jerseys and socks. The apparel truly does add to the great performance of each player in a team. After all, no one wants to play with dull pieces of equipment or apparel. Thus, we can safely say that the excitement and thrill of each football game can sometimes depend on the kind of equipment, as well as the apparel that the players are wearing. This is also the reason why almost all football players look great.

The most important thing out of the equipment and apparel that football players use are the uniforms. These are composed mainly of jerseys and shorts. However, there are things which should be considered when purchasing the uniforms needed by a certain football team. One of the most vital things to consider is the color of the uniform. The football players’ uniforms should be stylish and sporty. There are actually many different combinations of uniform designs on the market nowadays. Also, uniforms should have the logo of the team and the names of each particular player on the backs.

Another thing to consider when purchasing uniforms for a team is the durability. This is due to the fact that football is the kind of sport which is full of action. Thus, jerseys can tend to get ripped and damaged by other players. For this reason, uniforms should be durable when it comes to quality. Furthermore, hygiene is an important thing to take into account when buying uniforms for football players. This is important because players of all sports tend to sweat excessively, which then can result in an offensive body odor. Hence, uniforms should be a type of material which can minimize this odor. In point of fact, antimicrobial and wick moisture fabrics are the most popular when it comes to material. Moreover, it is also important to consider size. This is due to the fact that not all people are the same in terms of size. Also, football uniforms should fit well in order to obtain a good performance in the course of the many games.

The pieces of equipment and apparel, especially the uniforms of the players in a certain football team, are important. Thus, you should consider these essential things before going to the market and purchasing these items. However, you should really take into account the quality of the equipment and apparel so that the players can play very well in their games. Choosing the right and the best football equipment that fits properly with the position you stand for can help prevent or decrease the frequency and severity of the injuries. When you evaluate your self as the best player of the team, most probably you are the one who is always on the field, thus you take long and hard hits. Make sure that before you go out on the field, you are equipped with the right protection that allows you to perform your best.
